Ikigai

par Gsegner Audrey,

Ikigai means “reason for being” in Japanese. We can find this "reason for being" in four key elements:

  • What you love

  • What you are good at

  • What the world needs

  • What you can be paid for

These elements create four areas:

  • Passion = what you love + what you're good at

  • Mission = what you love + what the world needs

  • Vocation = what the world needs + what you can be paid for

  • Profession = what you're good at + what you can be paid for

But true Ikigai happens when all four overlap. It means doing something we love, are skilled at, that helps others, and that is financially sustainable.

The video shows that mindset and balance are key. When we align with our Ikigai, we can reach a state of flow, doing things naturally and with joy. Finding Ikigai involves reflecting on our passions, strengths, what we can offer to the world, and how to turn it into a career.

Ikigai

par Grasset Ambre,

Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means "reason for being" or "reason to get up in the morning."
It represents a balance between several important dimensions of life:
what you love to do --> passion
 what you are good at --> vocation
what the world needs -->mission
and what you can be paid for -->profession

According to the video and the diagram studied, finding your Ikigai requires personal reflection on these four elements. The idea is that when they all come together, you experience deep satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment, both personally and professionally.

Thus, Ikigai is not only related to work, but to a lifestyle in which you feel useful, aligned with your values, and fulfilled every day.

ikigai definition by Noah Nicolas

par Nicolas Noah,

Ikigai is a word coming from the Japanese philosophy.

Is the balance between the person, the passion (purpose) and the world.
I think that if we want to understand Ikigai's meaning, we need to ask to ourselves;
How someone can live (earn money) doing something that he likes and he is good at it (passion) and helping the world (society) ?

When you reach that stade "Ikigai" you feel in harmony, useful and in balance with life.

Like being in peace with yourself.

The Ikigai process is represented by a diagram, four circles cross. Each one represents what you like, what you are good at, what you can be paid for and what society needs.

At the intersection of circles, we find passion, profession, mission and vocation. And in the center of the diagram where all zones intersect it's Ikigai.
