L2 LLCER Republic, Democracy, Empire : Founding the United States of America (1776 - 1920)

This class will explore the history of the United States from its complicated birth in 1776 to the early 20^th century when the nation gained its status as the dominant world economy for the first time. As the title of the class suggests, we will look at the various “paths” taken by the country during this long period to try and fulfil its original promise: the building of a “more perfect union”.
