Personal or club reflection

Club reflection:

My tennis club has been contributing to several SDG for several years: gender equality (5) and good health and well-being (3). In fact, the club organizes training sessions several times a month dedicated to people with cancer, which allows them to share moments with other people outside of the hospital. Also, several times a year, women's days are organized to highlight women's sport, which is sometimes forgotten.

Conclusion:

Sports serve as a powerful tool in advancing the SDG by promoting health, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship. At both individual and club levels, integrating sustainable practices can lead to significant positive change. By consciously aligning our activities with the SDG, we not only enhance our community's well-being but also contribute to global development efforts

My women’s basketball club is still developing its impact on the SDGs, but we believe one area where we can make a difference is Quality Education.

Additionally, we organize training sessions with kids from the club, during which we also host conferences where the children can ask questions. These moments are important for us because we not only teach basketball skills but also inspire the kids and engage with them on important educational topics.

Our club, which is dedicated to supporting women, also participates in conferences and exchanges with schools and underprivileged groups. We call this our “entreprise à missions,” and it reflects our commitment to contributing to society beyond sports.

In conclusion, sports can really contribute to the SDGs by inspiring and empowering communities  As a women’s basketball club, we have the chance to make a positive impact, especially through our outreach and role as role models.

Personal or Club contribution

by Gsegner Audrey -

Current Contribution: My dance school does not actively contribute to any SDGs outlined by the United Nations.

Potential SDG for Engagement: However, we could realistically take action on SDG 3 : Good Health and Well-being.

Suggested Initiatives: Dance promotes physical activity, which is vital for maintaining good health and well-being. By integrating dance programs focused on mental health, stress reduction, and physical fitness, we can contribute to this goal. For instance, organizing community dance workshops can encourage active lifestyles and foster social connections, enhancing overall well-being. Additionally, collaborating with health professionals to create dance-based therapy sessions could further support mental health initiatives.

Conclusion: Sports and physical activities, including dance, play a significant role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by promoting health, fostering community engagement, and encouraging inclusive participation. While our dance school has not yet aligned its activities with specific SDGs, there is substantial potential to contribute meaningfully. By initiating programs that promote health and well-being, we can make a positive impact on our community and support global sustainability efforts.

personal or club's SDGs contribution

My club recognizes the importance of SGD: Reducing inequalities. In our club, we aim to make sports more inclusive and accessible to everyone, whatever their background. Currently, we are working on initiatives to give athletes from disadvantaged communities the opportunity to participate in basketball. To this end, we organize community awareness programs, offer reduced rates to families facing financial difficulties and organize a free camp.

If we were to take further steps to contribute to SDG , we could broaden our scope by partnering with local schools or organizations that support disadvantaged youth. In this way, we could reach a wider audience and ensure that sport is accessible to all.

Conclusion: Sports can play a key role in achieving SDG: Reduce inequalities. By making sports more inclusive, we can help break down the social and economic barriers that prevent certain groups from participating. At individual and club level, we can help reduce inequalities by offering equal opportunities to all athletes, regardless of their financial or social situation.

Conclusion

My club doesn’t have a big impact on any SDG but I think that where we can add something is quality education. We have a lot of schools around our gym and club. In consequence many children come to see our games. In addition, some weeks we have training with the kids who train in the club. During this shared time, we also have a conference to answer all the questions from the children. I think this kind of moments are important to impact the kids and help good education which is an important goal.

As a conclusion, we can see sport can have a big impact on SDG because sport is famous and people like and listen to athletes. Athletes represent loyalty, strength, dreams and it’s easier for them to impact on people.

I choose to reflect on the SDG of climate action. Faced with the ecological emergency, the dance sector must also rethink its habits. Companies could engage in a process to reduce environmental impact. This will be done with the help of artists and staff of the places in which they perform. Transport is often the main source of CO2 emissions in companies.

Suggestion: air travel should be replaced by train when possible even if it takes more time. The hotel industry is a second source of CO2 emissions as artists go on tour. Laundry and energy-intensive buildings are mainly involved.

Suggestion: choose hotels that refuse the distribution of cosmetic samples in rooms, and those that limit the rotation of towels, avoid cleaning below three nights and offer breakfasts in short circuit.

Commitment to the environment also involves waste management. Suggestion: ask the dancers to bring their reusable water bottle to avoid single use plastic water bottles.
