Ikigai means “reason for being” in Japanese. We can find this "reason for being" in four key elements:

  • What you love

  • What you are good at

  • What the world needs

  • What you can be paid for

These elements create four areas:

  • Passion = what you love + what you're good at

  • Mission = what you love + what the world needs

  • Vocation = what the world needs + what you can be paid for

  • Profession = what you're good at + what you can be paid for

But true Ikigai happens when all four overlap. It means doing something we love, are skilled at, that helps others, and that is financially sustainable.

The video shows that mindset and balance are key. When we align with our Ikigai, we can reach a state of flow, doing things naturally and with joy. Finding Ikigai involves reflecting on our passions, strengths, what we can offer to the world, and how to turn it into a career.
